Festa no Interior

A pequena vila, que transborda calma e tranquilidade em suas ruas estreitas, se transformou com a chegada de junho. O Gato Caipira desce da estação de trem e logo se junta aos moradores, que realizam os preparativos na praça central. Ao fundo, a igreja e o coreto. A animação e expectativa dominam a atmosfera. Logo, as bandeirinhas são erguidas, a fogueira é acesa e o ar é tomado pelo aroma do quentão: as cores já entregam que a cidade se prepara para as Festas Juninas.

A Escola do Gato já foi de fora a fora do Brasil no mês de junho e, desta vez, foi para dentro, revelando os costumes e tradições de uma típica Festa Junina do interior. Nesse mergulho, descobrimos nós mesmos e nossa região, formada pelas cidades que nos circundam, pelas estações da Ferrovia Mogiana e Companhia Paulista que costuram nossas fronteiras, pelo café e pela cana que impulsionam nossa economia, além das festas que constroem nossa identidade coletiva. Ribeirão Preto, apesar dos ares de capital, tem raízes no interior, sim senhor! A força da simplicidade se reflete nos símbolos em uma expressão tão instintiva e popular quanto à Arte Naif, que empresta seus traços para compor e decorar a festança.
